Funny winter paintings of the Dutchman Anton Peak, which will give a New Year mood

The anticipation of the New Year holidays, which in childhood always arose on its own, dulls over time among many of us. And if the New Year mood does not come to you, then let’s try to create it for ourselves. After all, the holidays are just around the corner. And the wonderful Dutch artist Anton Peak and his funny fairy-tale paintings will help us in this …

Do not be afraid of fairy tales. Fear the lies.
What about a fairy tale? The tale does not deceive.
Tell a child a fairy tale –
There will be more truth in the world.
V. Berestov

If you dig a little deeper, then in the souls of each of us there will be a small child who still has faith in miracles. The elusive aura of the New Year holidays, which is created by a decorated Christmas tree, multi-colored garlands, the smell of tangerines, can briefly return us to a carefree childhood, giving us a feeling of happiness, joy, security and warmth.

A fairy tale … a midnight dream …
But where to get it? Where from?
And my heart wants so much miracle
Let it be small, but a miracle!
E. Asadov. Winter fairy tale

Anton Peak from early childhood loved to draw and loved fairy tales. And he carried this love through his whole life. Modest in appearance and rather silent, he lived immersed in the world of his own fantasies, and he perceived the world around him as a fairy tale. “I like to dive into previous centuries,” he once said in one of his interviews.
Some called him Dutch Andersen. Only, unlike Andersen, he painted his magical stories on paper with paints and a magic brush, using at the same time soft, muted tones. His favorite seasons were autumn and winter.

The wind is spinning white
Whistles on the run …
I need to get down to business
And I just can’t …

Everything in the world is mysterious right now,
It’s like it’s flying somewhere
Snowstorm, beautiful, fabulous …
And I believe in fairy tales holy.

It seems that he is sitting on the roof, drawing scenes from the life of the city, creating his own fairy-tale world on paper …
Let’s plunge into the atmosphere of this small old town created by the imagination of a talented artist, wander along its crowded streets, look at the city bustle on the eve of a magical holiday … It is impossible not to be fascinated by the paintings of Anton Peak.

The plots of his paintings are not distinguished by serenity and rainbow. Often you can see quite modestly dressed townspeople, or even poor people, on them. But at the same time all his works are imbued with lyricism and good irony. And from his paintings it blows with a miracle and magic …

A blizzard, like a bear
Evil rages all evening
That howls below under the stairs
That paw scratches the glass.

I really want to believe in pain
That dreams will come true suddenly
Through the blizzard the doorbell rings –
And here you are on the doorstep!

Winter scene. Palanquin

Anxious, embarrassed,
Dreaming or not dreaming ?!
Powdered by snow
Stars on the eyelashes …

All the drawings of this talented artist are distinguished by a special, unique style – an amazing ability to harmoniously build a multi-figure composition with careful drawing of a huge number of details. Each of his paintings is a small story about the life of the inhabitants of a small town. All of them I want to consider for a long time, while on the crowded streets you can see a lot of interesting and unique details.

And you want to go ice skating on a frozen river with your kids, make a snowman, stand in front of the magic windows of old shops, and bump into a noisy city holiday fair. Isn’t this a miracle!

So our walk through the streets of the magical town of Anton Peak ended, but the contemplation of the works of this artist causes a desire to plunge into their mystical atmosphere again and again …

It is time to return from a fairy tale to your affairs.

Enough! Enough! I won’t!
Midnight … the wires are buzzing …
The lights go out everywhere.
I know a miracle is coming true
Yes, but not always …
E. Asadov. Winter fairy tale
