1. Katerina van Hemessen (1528 – 1587)
She was the first in history to create a self-portrait depicting an artist at work (later this method became very common in the history of art). It is assumed that painting was taught by her father, artist Jan Sanders van Hemessen. Katerina became best known for writing portraits of rich people who ordered these services for money.
